The Saudi - Ramadan Disconnection

There are many of us who blindly follow the pseudo-moonsighting, or 'Saudi'-moonsighting, or, as one scholar correctly states, the 'caesarian moon-births'.

Comoners, like ourselves, should not delve into the depths of the techninal formulae and nor scratch our heads with regards to the 12-degree, 18-degree factors when the sunnah of the Beloved of Allah is enough for us.

No hadith have I found that compels us to follow the Saudi announcements, and nor are we obliged to practice their method of lunar-moon initiation.

Some of my dear and respected brothers love to wrap their spiritual arms around the political custodians of the two holy sanctuaries, especially when it comes to announcing the beginning, or ending, of the lunar 'hijri' month.

I have managed to revert a few of these brothers to our divine path and true way of life, known only as 'Islam', by way of providing proofs of folly and misjudgement in such announcements. There are, however, some brothers who avoid persons like myself, in case I might divert them to the 'real stuff', even after providing them with statements, 'fatawa' and documents by their very own 'scholars' compelling them not to follow Saudia, yet these brothers prefer to follow them in some matters and reject them, unequivocally, in others.
